香濤林是一片保存完好的原始生態(tài)林，以晚清中興四大名臣之一,、洋務(wù)運(yùn)動(dòng)代表人物張之洞的別號(hào)“香濤”而命名,。1907年，張之洞創(chuàng)辦“湖北商業(yè)中學(xué)堂”，此乃湖北經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院的前身之一,。此林設(shè)有張之洞雕塑,、勸學(xué)篇雕塑、張之洞書(shū)法石刻等景觀,，一方面營(yíng)造了良好的人文環(huán)境和學(xué)習(xí)氛圍,；另一方面勉勵(lì)全校師生秉承張之洞“中學(xué)為體,，西學(xué)為用”,、“經(jīng)世致用”等教育思想，奮發(fā)圖強(qiáng),，振興中華,。

A pristine ecological haven, Xiangtao Forest is named after Zhang Zhidong (courtesy name Xiangtao), the late Qing politician and the founder of Hubei Commercial School (the precursor to Hubei University of Economics). It symbolizes the century-long legacy of education and the spirit of continuous innovation at the university—a place where nature and culture intertwine.
